FPV Drones

When people hear the word "drone,"they imagine a small, unmanned aircraft with someone remotely controlling it watching from afar. This description is accurate, but did you know there is another type of drone? Indeed, there are FPV drones. FPV is an acronym for First Person View. Sometimes, people uses this expression: subjective view.

What is a subjective view (FPV)?

Thanks to the camera that these drones have, the pilot, using immersive glasses (FPV), sees what his device is filming as if he were the one seeing it. In fact, the camera acts as an eye and the immersive glasses really give the impression of being in an airplane cockpit: it's as if the pilot were on board the device! In fact, it is a total immersion! Of course, it's not for everyone, as it can be dizzying! It is an activity that is as spectacular as it is exciting!

What are the possibilities with FPV drones?

There are several activities that it is possible to do with these drones. The first is without a doubt to be able to explore the world by fly ingover it, like a bird. By flying this way, it is possible to explore some places that are difficult to reach otherwise!

Then, when the pilot is used to FPV flying, he may decide to push his limits and get out of his comfort zone. To do this, he may take part in FPV drone races. These races consist of an obstacle course with a set trajectory. All participants must complete this course, one after the other, as quickly as possible. Pilots have the option of creating their own drone by purchasing all parts separately, so they can build themselves a faster and a lighter device. The possibilities are limitless!

There are also other possibilities such as freestyle flight: a practice which consists of carrying out sequences of figures in a fluid and harmonious way, by making the best use of the environment; each pilot developshis own style.

Finally, there is freeride flight: an activity that all drone pilots, FPV or not, do. It's about flying, quite simply, while having fun, without a specific objective.
