For several years, drones have been used in many professional fields to,among others, make the different types of operations more efficient andlucrative. Today, we will focus on one field in particular: agriculture. Wewill see how drones are used in this field as well as the different advantages that drones bring to agriculture.

 

What is precision agriculture?

According to Smag (Smart Agriculture): “Precision agriculture uses new technologies to analyze plots in detail and decision support tools (DST) to collect and process data. Using sensors, drones, or satellite images, the information sent by these connected tools makes it possible to support farmers in their decision-making regarding the management of their crops and thus optimize their work. The data collected through precision agriculture will make it possible to increase yield by limiting the consumption of resources, or how to produce more with less. ‘’



Precision agriculture by drone… What is it all about?

Previously, we saw that there are several technologies that are used to do precision farming. In this article, we will focus on drones and the different benefits that their use brings in agriculture.

 

Here are different tasks that can be performed by drone:

-        crop image capture

-        land surveying

-        soil analysis

-        water level monitoring

-        plant treatments

-        identification of areas requiring more attention

-        precisely define planting patterns

-        etc.

Theses tasks will make it possible to:

-        optimize crop health

-        improve yields while conserving resources and energy

-        reduce the amount of manual work

-        realize great costsavings

-        etc.

Finally, we must admit that drones have become essential in agriculture if farmers want to maximize their income and their efficiency!
