RCMP Drones as First Responder (DFR) Trials

In May and June 2024, The Alberta RCMP held trials of their DFR program in Red Deer, Lac La Biche, and the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

The goal of the trials was to determine how emerging RPAS technologies can be used by officers on-the-ground to support public safety, such as during investigations and unfolding critical incidents, while reducing safety risks to officers and the public.

The findings from these trials will assist law enforcement agencies to develop regulations, standards, and best practices for integrating RPAS into their work.
