The Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (Aeronautical Competence) is required by Transport Canada to be a drone pilot for advanced operations. You will find this requirement in Section 8 of the third edition of TP 15263, a document available on the Transport Canada website.

You can take this exam at Exo Drone, and you will receive your Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (Aeronautical Competence) by mail!

Eligibility
There are no age or nationality restrictions regarding eligibility for the exam or for holding a Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (Aeronautical Competence). The candidate must attest that they do not have a disability that could affect their ability to operate a radio station safely.

To pass the exam, you must demonstrate to the examiner:

  • that you have the necessary skills to operate a radio-telephony installation;
  • that you possess a general knowledge of radio-telephony operating procedures, applicable international regulations for aeronautical service, and particularly the rules related to the preservation of human life;
  • that you have a general knowledge of the Broadcasting Act and its applicable regulations.

Procedures

  1. First, you need to contact the administration of Exo Drone to make the payment.
  2. Afterwards, you will receive the study guide via email. You can study at home according to your schedule!
  3. Finally, when you are ready, you can schedule an appointment to take your exam.

Exam Day
A form of identification must be presented on exam day. This can include a passport, driver's license, birth certificate, baptismal certificate, certificate of nationality, or immigrant ID card, at the discretion of the examiner.
